Being A Leader For Your Downline
What characteristics must a true successful network marketer have? Is it the willingness to work hard? Perhaps it is recognizing long term thinking. Is it the ability to work independently, but maintain an open mind and not get discouraged easily? The answer is yes to all. But most importantly, you must be a leader to your downline.
A leader must be fearless when facing challenges. A leader stands firm when criticized, while maintaining the courage to admit mistakes. An effective leader promotes team building by listening, and welcomes ideas from others. A great leader inspires others to follow.
Leaders are generally instantly recognizable. They possess many different traits. Some are robust, some are quiet in nature. But when the necessary time comes, leaders step up the plate and deliver. For you baseball fans out there, there is no better example than Derek Jeter (sorry Red Sox fans).
But one can development leadership skills. So you ask, how do you I become a leader to my downline?
A leader trains his/her downline on the most effective ways to grow their business. Your downline will most likely mimic your techniques. A successful network marketer shares with each and every member of his/her downline the methods used to grow the business. And not just the positive methods. It is just as important to share the unsuccessful ones as the successful ones. You do not want your downline to spend (waste) time and money on unsuccessful methods.
A leader does not make his/her downline experience the same growing pains. The upline leader must drastically reduce, if not completely eliminate, the chances of their downline attempting these same failures.
Here are a few tidbits about being a leader:
* Do not expect others to do certain things in their mlm that you no longer do yourself
* Always keep a positive attitude especially in the face of adversity
* Approach each new day enthusiasm, and do not worry about the past. When teeing off on hole 16, what you scored on 15 is irrelevant
* Show calming influence to your group when issues arise
* Set short, mid, and long term goals. If you want your downline to do this, you must also
* And most important, always maintain integrity
